What we stand for
Over the years, the PSA Change team have seen some of the best and worst of the public service in South Australia.
With over 15 collective years working in unions, Charlotte Watson and Celia Brougham are standing for the positions of General Secretary and Assistant General Secretary and have established the PSA Change Council Candidates to bring about change for public servants in South Australia.
They have the experience and the industrial relations expertise to get real results for members.
Why PSA Change is needed
Public sector wages in SA are not keeping up with the cost of living, conditions are not being updated to take account of changes in the way we live and work, and the current PSA leadership are delaying action on these important responsibilities.
Charlotte Watson and Celia Brougham and their team want to be part of the change in the public service, shifting the needle toward the best, and away from the ‘worst’. The way to do this is through collective action, through better pay and conditions for members, which will drive better outcomes across the public service.
Public servants strive to deliver good service for South Australians and our role is to support them to do their best in a safe and productive work environment.
Key policies for PSA Change team are:
Ending the double standard by reducing the salary of the General Secretary from its current rate of nearly $250,000.
Negotiating a fair pay rise for the Salaried Enterprise Bargaining scheme.
We have asked for 20% in the first 12 months, backdated to Oct 2024. [Current leadership signed off on wage deals of just 1.5% year on year over four years, much lower than inflation or other Australian states]. Read more here.
Reversing the loss of members in the Public Sector Association.
Membership is dropping by about 500 members each year, 18% of membership has been lost since 2021.
Listening to members’ concerns and quickly translating those into PSA leadership action.
Representing members’ urgent need to restore the wages and conditions lost under the current leadership of the PSA.
An experienced team to drive change
Charlotte and Celia have brought together an experienced team who are recognised for their integrity and hard work.
It’s time for change
No more will leadership be lining their pockets while neglecting members’ wage negotiations and salary increases.
It’s time for change. It’s time for real action for PSA Members. It’s time to reverse the fall.
Members deserve a union that’s built on action, not distraction.
